Putting off fiber might feel like saving money, but in reality, it does the opposite.

Every year Hawarden waits, the cost to build fiber goes up. Construction prices rise. Materials become more expensive. Grant and funding opportunities shrink or disappear. At the same time, we keep spending money on aging internet technology just to keep it running.

That’s money going toward systems that were never designed for today’s online world.

DSL (runs on aging copper phone lines), wireless (shared signals that slow down during busy hours), and satellite networks (long-distance connections with delays and data limits) are getting older, harder to maintain, and more expensive to patch together. Without fiber, residents are left dealing with:

It’s a frustrating cycle. We pay more, but get less.

The longer Hawarden waits, the more expensive fiber becomes, and the harder it is to catch up to communities that invested earlier. Towns that acted first are now enjoying faster speeds, lower long-term costs, and infrastructure built to last for decades.

In short: the biggest risk is standing still. Not bringing fiber to Hawarden doesn’t just keep things the same — it actively limits your town’s future. Fiber creates jobs, attracts new families, supports students, strengthens businesses, and keeps your community thriving. The cost of not acting? Falling behind.

Take the First Step Toward Better Internet

Fiber in Hawarden depends on all of us working together. Signing up is just the start — only paid deposits count toward moving your route forward. A $25 deposit might feel small, but each one brings us closer to faster, more reliable internet and prevents costs from climbing even higher.

***Paid deposits must be completed by March 31 to count toward your route’s progress.

For convenience, you can pay your deposit through PayPal or guest checkout, making it quick and easy. If you don’t get to it right away, no worries — you can submit it later!

As a bonus, everyone who places a deposit will be entered to win prizes — our way of saying thanks for supporting a stronger, more connected Hawarden 🎁

‼️ Deadline Update: More Time to Reach 50%‼️

We’ve extended the deadline for paid fiber sign-ups to March 31. When a route reaches 50% in paid sign-ups, fiber becomes a reality. If it doesn’t, every deposit is refunded in April.

More time means more neighbors, more momentum, and a better chance to bring fiber home. The clock is ticking—Don’t miss out!

Keep an eye on our current standings for up-to-date progress with sign-ups!
