Over the past several months, many in the Hawarden community took time to learn about, discuss, and support the possibility of bringing fiber internet to the area. That level of engagement through conversations, questions, and sign-ups has meant a great deal to us.
We’re especially grateful to those who made the commitment to sign up and place a deposit, as well as those who stayed connected through our weekly updates. Your involvement did not go unnoticed.
For the project to move forward, we needed to reach a participation threshold of 50%. While there was substantial interest, that requirement was not reached by March 31.
This isn’t the ideal outcome and we understand it may be disappointing. At the same time, the level of engagement seen, both in-person and online, makes one thing clear: there is interest in future-focused, reliable connectivity.
What Happens Next
- At this time, we will not be proceeding with construction of our fiber network in Hawarden.
- For those who submitted a deposit, refunds will begin processing the week of April 13.
- If you submitted a payment, please watch your mailbox for additional information.
Thank you again to everyone who showed interest, asked questions, and helped spread the word.
We will continue to evaluate opportunities as community needs and interest evolve, and we’ll keep you informed if anything changes.
